Day 1
Entebbe/Kampala to the Primate Capital of Kibale
Your journey begins early this morning as your dedicated Saventra Safaris guide picks you up from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe. Leaving the city hustle behind, you will head west toward the historic town of Fort Portal. Watch the landscape shift into vibrant trading centers, rolling green tea plantations, and misty hillsides. After a relaxed lunch in Fort Portal, continue to the edges of Kibale National Park. Spend your evening listening to the ambient sounds of the jungle waking up as you prepare for tomorrow’s primate encounter.
- Drive Time: Approximately 5–6 hours.
- Meals: Lunch and Dinner.
Day 2
Chimpanzee Tracking & Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary
Wake up to the echoing calls of the rainforest. Following an educational briefing at the park headquarters, you will venture deep into the emerald canopy with an expert ranger. Kibale protects over 1,500 chimpanzees, and finding them is a sensory thrill. You will hear them first—a chorus of distant hoots and pants escalating into a crescendo before you spot them swinging gracefully through the branches. Spend one awe-inspiring hour observing their complex social interactions up close.
In the afternoon, explore the community-run Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary on a wooden boardwalk trail. This guided walk offers authentic local stories and a chance to look for rare birds like the Great Blue Turaco, alongside eight distinct species of primates.
- Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.
Day 3
Savannah Explosion Craters & Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise
Enjoy a slow breakfast before taking a short, scenic drive south across the equator to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The landscape transforms into sweeping savannahs framed by volcanic fields. Take a dramatic drive through the iconic scenic explosion craters—a cluster of extinct volcanic cones offering panoramic views across Lake Edward and the distant Rwenzori peaks.
In the afternoon, experience the ultimate park highlight: a 2-hour boat safari along the Kazinga Channel. This unique waterway holds one of the densest populations of hippos on Earth. Watch elephants drink at the water’s edge, Nile crocodiles bask on the banks, and countless waterbirds dive for fish just meters from your boat.
- Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.
Day 4
Savannah Game Drive & Journey to Bwindi's Edge
Set out onto the golden Kasenyi plains at sunrise, tracking prides of lions, solitary leopards, and massive herds of Cape buffalo. Midday is spent relaxing at your lodge. After a warm lunch, pack your bags and begin a highly scenic drive south toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will pass through quiet villages and dramatic mountain gaps, arriving at your forest lodge in time to watch the fog roll over the ancient canopy.
- Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.
Day 5
The Ultimate Mountain Gorilla Trekking Experience
This is the moment that completely redefines what it means to travel. After an early breakfast, gather at the forest station to learn about gorilla tracking etiquette and join your specialist tracking team. Accompanied by experienced scouts, you will step directly into the prehistoric jungle, navigating thick vines and mist-covered ridges.
The hike can be physically demanding, but all effort instantly melts away when your guide parts the brush to reveal a wild gorilla family resting, playing, and feeding just steps away. Spending an hour in the presence of these gentle giants—watching a silverback patriarch protect his family and infants tumble through the brush—is a profoundly humbling experience. Return to the lodge for an evening of rest, sharing your stories around the fireplace.
- Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.
Day 6
Authentic Batwa Cultural Encounter & Relaxation
Dedicate your day to the rich human stories that define this ancient ecosystem. Embark on a guided walk to meet the indigenous Batwa community, the original forest keepers who lived in harmony with the jungle for generations. Listen to their ancient folk songs, watch traditional fire-making demonstrations, and learn about the forest plants they used for medicine and survival. Spend the rest of your afternoon relaxing at the lodge, soaking in the panoramic forest views, or enjoying a massage.
- Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.
Day 7
Farewell to the Forest & Return to Kampala via the Equator
Enjoy a final morning coffee looking over the misty forest canopy before beginning your journey back toward the capital. Travel across the beautiful rolling hills of Mbarara, stopping at the official Uganda Equator crossing for a celebratory lunch, a classic photo opportunity standing in two hemispheres at once, and a chance to pick up hand-crafted local souvenirs. Arrive back in Entebbe or Kampala by late afternoon or evening, carrying memories of rare wildlife and local stories that will stay with you forever.
- Drive Time: Approximately 8–9 hours.
- Meals: Breakfast and Lunch.
